A fantastic opportunity exists in this market leading organisation for a Team Leader – Financial Accounting to join their high performing finance team. If you are a dynamic Senior Financial Accountant, with experience managing a team, and want to work for an ASX200 organisation, this may be the role for you.

This role is suitable for an accountant with a strong suite of skills across both management and financial accounting, the responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Preparation of annual and half year financial statements, assisted by a team of qualified accountants
  • Meet all financial reporting statutory obligations and deadlines
  • Assist with audit file preparation / liaise with external auditors
  • Research and provision of technical advice / accounting papers
  • Manage any changes to accounting standards and implement changes
  • Assist in month end process. This includes but is not limited to :
    • Obtain and review individual investees’ financial data
    • Provide analysis and commentary on major variances / significant events
    • Provide accounting training / assistance to investees as required
    • Assist and lead finance team on technical aspects of month end processes
    • Review work completed by team when required
    • Participate in continuous process improvement
  • Assist with budgets and forecasts
  • Assist / participate in ad-hoc projects and duties as needed

The ideal candidate, to be successful in this role will be/have:

  • Fully qualified CA or CPA with proven technical accounting experience and at least 4 years post qualification experience
  • Technically strong – experience gained within an ASX listed business and / or experience within a Big 4
  • Group consolidation experience
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Previous financial reporting or audit experience from insurance industry highly regarded
  • Experience with M&A activities highly regarded
  • SAP experience desirable
