Project Accountant
Full-time permanent role
Redfern (WFH flexibility) | Full time | $90,000–$100,000 + super

  • Redfern with genuine work-from-home flexibility offered
  • Own end-to-end project finance for a fast-growing creative agency across Sydney and APAC
  • Hands-on, varied role offering real autonomy and close exposure to production teams daily

About the client

Our client is a dynamic, fast-growing agency with a well-established presence across the Asia-Pacific region, including offices in Sydney and Singapore. Known for delivering high-quality creative and production work for a diverse portfolio of clients, the business has built a reputation for commercial rigour paired with a genuinely collaborative culture. Finance sits close to the action here, partnering directly with Producers and Account Leads rather than operating at arm's length. It is a business that values precision, integrity and strong working relationships as much as the numbers themselves.

About the role

This is a hands-on, commercially focused role for a Project Accountant ready to take ownership of the full financial lifecycle of projects, from revenue recognition and billing through to job costing and final reconciliations. Reporting to the APAC Controller and working closely with Producers and Account Leads, you will become the financial backbone behind projects delivered across Sydney and Singapore. Based in Redfern with the flexibility to work from home, this role offers genuine variety, autonomy and the opportunity to make a visible commercial impact within a close-knit, supportive finance team.

Duties

  • Own project job costing, setting up vendors and maintaining accurate project costs across operating and finance systems.
  • Review and match purchase orders and vendor invoices against project budgets and deliverables, monitoring PO closures ahead of final reconciliation.
  • Manage vendor and freelancer onboarding and compliance across the APAC region, including Certificates of Insurance, Master Service Agreements, rate cards and Scopes of Work.
  • Oversee the APAC accounts payable and receivable function, including invoice processing, aging management, weekly payment runs and supplier reconciliations.
  • Support month-end close by performing bank reconciliations, processing general journals and assisting with GL reconciliations.

Requirements

  • Accounting degree or equivalent qualification.
  • 3–5 years' accounting experience, ideally with a focus on agency finance or project accounting.
  • Strong Excel skills and proficiency with accounting software; experience with Procim is highly regarded.
  • Solid understanding of GST compliance requirements across Australia and Singapore.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with a demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with producers, account managers and external vendors.
  • A self-motivated, proactive problem solver comfortable prioritising across multiple projects and dynamic teams.

How to apply

If you're a commercially minded accountant who thrives on ownership, variety and being close to the action, we would love to hear from you.
