Assistant Accountant
6 months temporary contract
$40-$50 per hour + Super
Upper North Shore

We are looking for an Assistant Accountant to join our clients team to assist with their key accounting functions and support their Finance Manager with the preparation of financial management reports, ledger reconciliations and external reporting requirements.

We are looking for someone to start pretty quickly and the role is fully office based (non-negotiable).

About the role:

  • Preparation and reconciliation of all bank accounts daily ensuring appropriate support is maintained for all amounts included in the bank statement to satisfy external audit requirements.
  • Preparation of weekly cashflow forecast to monitor future expected operating and CAPEX cashflows are in line with banking facilities.
  • Prepare and post all month end journals such as payroll, month end accruals, depreciation.
  • Initial review and analysis of balance sheet position and operating result of the budget prior to close of month for reasonableness.
  • Reconciliation of all balance sheet general ledger accounts monthly subsequent to month end close.
  • Preparation of quarterly financial statements o
  • Respond to finance related queries from budget holders and other staff
  • Management of investments and liaising with financial institutions regarding Corporate Online requirements such as finance team’s access to online banking and staff credit card applications.
  • Preparation and lodgement of month BAS/GST reports and quarterly ABS reports
  • Assist the Finance Manager in preparation and lodgement of annual FBT return, Workers Compensation Declaration
  • Liaise with external auditors to gather information and documentation as required
  • Ensure all written and verbal communication is courteous, professional, accurate and reflective of organisation's values.

About the role:

  • Willingness to support and promote the ethos and values of the organisation
  • CPA or CA qualified (essential) with demonstrated experience in large or complex financial institutions.
  • Proficiency in Oracle NetSuite (preferred)
  • Strong analytical skills to identify and investigate variances to budget and reconciling items in monthly reconciliations.
  • Experience and competency in the monthly management reporting process.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Advanced excel skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills. An ability to develop strong relationships with budget holders within to enable them to understand their roles within a finance context.
  • Demonstrate the ability and willingness to work in a productive and collaborative way as a member of a team to achieve shared goals.
  • Ability to self-manage
  • Ability to streamline and implement improved financial processes.
  • Ability to demonstrate professional conduct and discretion in relation to confidential matters.
