Business Development Manager – Professional Development
Location: Sydney CBD
Salary:$140k - $160k + Super
Full-time, permanent

We are seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to drive corporate training and professional development sales across NSW for a prestigious membership organisation in the professional services sector. This is a high-impact, hands-on revenue role for someone who thrives on building senior relationships and converting them into long-term corporate partnerships.

About the Role

This is primarily a B2B business development role focused on growing revenue through corporate training and professional development solutions sold into professional services organisations — including finance, banking, accounting and governance. You will own a largely cold pipeline and be responsible for building it from the ground up, identifying opportunities, nurturing senior stakeholder relationships, and closing contracts for in-house training and education programs.

This role also carries a member engagement component, supporting retention and acquisition of individual members — however the primary focus and measure of success is B2B revenue growth.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Corporate Sales:

  • Drive new B2B revenue by identifying, developing and closing corporate training and professional development opportunities within professional services organisations
  • Build and manage a pipeline of corporate partners from a largely cold desk, with significant opportunity in an established database
  • Develop long-term relationships with senior executives and decision-makers, positioning the organisation as a trusted professional development partner
  • Develop and implement strategies to secure in-house training contracts, corporate partnerships and sponsorships
  • Represent the organisation at industry events, delivering presentations and engaging with senior stakeholders across NSW

Member Engagement:

  • Support retention and acquisition of individual members through proactive engagement and tailored professional development support
  • Connect members with relevant learning opportunities and act as a key point of contact for the NSW membership base

Leadership & Representation:

  • Manage and leverage the State Council — a group of senior governance and risk practitioners — to drive B2B opportunities and strengthen the organisation's presence in the market
  • Provide insights and recommendations to senior leadership on local growth opportunities

About You

  • Proven track record in B2B business development, with demonstrable examples of building relationships and driving revenue from the ground up
  • Experience selling corporate training, education or professional development solutions is highly regarded
  • Comfortable engaging and presenting to C-suite and senior executives in professional services
  • Hands-on, self-starting approach — this is not a high-level strategic role, it requires someone who is actively in the market driving results
  • Polished, credible and confident public presence
  • Strong lateral thinker and problem solver
