Finance Business Manager
Location: Sydney
Salary: $250,000 FTE + Super (pro-rata for 3 months)

A prestigious and well-established organisation in the education sector is seeking an experienced Finance Business Manager for a short-term 3-month contract. This is an immediate start role providing high-level financial and operational support to the executive team.

Role responsibilities

• Maintain strong accounting systems, controls and transparent financial processes
• Lead the preparation and coordination of annual operational and capital budgets
• Monitor financial performance, analyse variances and provide clear insights to senior management
• Produce timely monthly management reports across key projects and cost centres
• Develop and refine KPI frameworks to support financial performance tracking
• Manage payroll operations; act as back-up for Payroll Officer and Accounting Manager when needed
• Improve and standardise financial and operational processes to support day-to-day efficiency
• Review policies and procedures to ensure compliance and best practice
• Conduct internal audits to strengthen risk management and governance
• Identify opportunities to enhance cost effectiveness across the school
• Support ICT and the Finance SMS module implementation where required
• Assist with business modelling and financial reporting for new initiatives
• Allocate tasks, manage workflow and ensure timely delivery of team outputs
• Provide feedback and support to develop team capability and quality of work
• Uphold child-safety standards and comply with all school policies and procedures
• Maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgement in all financial and operational decisions
• Contribute to a safe, positive and professional school environment

Ideal Candidate

• Experience in Education is highly desirable
• Senior operations leader with experience in finance
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Proven ability to improve processes and organisational performance
• Skilled in budgeting, forecasting and operational reporting
• Experienced in managing teams and stakeholders
• Highly professional, proactive and strategic thinker
