Finance Business Manager
Location: Sydney
Salary: $250,000 FTE + Super (pro-rata for 3 months)
A prestigious and well-established organisation in the education sector is seeking an experienced Finance Business Manager for a short-term 3-month contract. This is an immediate start role providing high-level financial and operational support to the executive team.
Role responsibilities
- Maintain strong accounting systems, controls and transparent financial processes
- Lead the preparation and coordination of annual operational and capital budgets
- Monitor financial performance, analyse variances and provide clear insights to senior management
- Produce timely monthly management reports across key projects and cost centres
- Develop and refine KPI frameworks to support financial performance tracking
- Manage payroll operations; act as back-up for Payroll Officer and Accounting Manager when needed
- Improve and standardise financial and operational processes to support day-to-day efficiency
- Review policies and procedures to ensure compliance and best practice
- Conduct internal audits to strengthen risk management and governance
- Identify opportunities to enhance cost effectiveness across the school
- Support ICT and the Finance SMS module implementation where required
- Assist with business modelling and financial reporting for new initiatives
- Allocate tasks, manage workflow and ensure timely delivery of team outputs
- Provide feedback and support to develop team capability and quality of work
- Uphold child-safety standards and comply with all school policies and procedures
- Maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgement in all financial and operational decisions
- Contribute to a safe, positive and professional school environment
Ideal Candidate
- Experience in Education is highly desirable
- Senior operations leader with experience in finance
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proven ability to improve processes and organisational performance
- Skilled in budgeting, forecasting and operational reporting
- Experienced in managing teams and stakeholders
- Highly professional, proactive and strategic thinker
