About the Client

Our client is a well-established higher education provider based in Parramatta, NSW, offering a range of accredited courses to domestic and international students. The organisation is known for its commitment to best-practice teaching and learning, and to maintaining a supportive, inclusive campus community. It operates under a formal governance structure overseen by its Governing Council and Academic Board, supported by a small, professional corporate services team.

About the Role

This is a part-time opportunity for an experienced governance professional to provide high-level secretariat and governance support to a Governing Council and its sub-committees, including the Academic Board, Audit Risk Management and Finance Committee, Teaching and Learning Committee, and Course, Industry and Advisory Committee. Reporting directly to the CEO & Dean, you will keep the institute's formal governance calendar running smoothly, from agenda preparation through to minute-taking, policy drafting and record-keeping. This role suits someone who enjoys precision, structure and working closely with senior stakeholders in a higher education setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare agendas for Governing Council, Academic Board and sub-committee meetings based on each body's annual workplan and follow up outstanding action items after each meeting.
  • Draft and assist with reports, briefing papers, policies, plans and registers for review and approval by the CEO & Dean or applicable governing body.
  • Collate and distribute agendas and supporting papers ahead of each scheduled meeting and take professional minutes for timely completion and circulation.
  • Update policies, plans and other documents following each approval meeting, publish current versions, and notify relevant stakeholders of changes.
  • Maintain accurate electronic governance records, including meeting documentation, attendance and membership summaries, and relevant compliance registers.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree.
  • At least three years' governance support experience gained in a higher education setting.
  • Proven experience taking accurate minutes for formal governance or board-level meetings.
  • Working knowledge of the TEQSA Higher Education Standards Framework and the National Code of Practice for Providers of Education and Training to Overseas Students.
  • Experience drafting and updating organisational-level policies, procedures and related documentation.
  • A proactive, detail-focused approach, strong planning and organisational skills, and a track record of meeting tight deadlines while maintaining confidentiality.
