We are recruiting on behalf of a leading professional membership organisation within the legal sector. This is a 12-month contract opportunity within a highly regarded Professional Development team that delivers high-quality learning programs to support the ongoing development of the legal profession. This Instructional Designer role has been created to support an increased pipeline of work, offering the opportunity to step into a collaborative, high-performing team and make an immediate impact.

About the role

Reporting to the Legal Education Manager, you’ll design and deliver engaging Continuing Professional Development (CPD) courses for the legal profession. Working closely with internal teams and subject matter experts, you’ll bring learning experiences to life across conferences, webinars, workshops and eLearning.

While exposure to the legal sector is valued, strong learning design capability is the priority -this role would suit someone from a professional services, membership, or broader L&D background.

What you’ll be doing

  • Supporting the development of conference and CPD programs, including identifying new and relevant topics
  • Designing and developing engaging learning experiences from concept through to delivery
  • Managing relationships with presenters and subject matter experts, providing guidance on content and delivery
  • Leading course development projects end-to-end, including timelines, storyboarding, content creation and QA
  • Building or reviewing courses using eLearning tools (e.g. Articulate Rise, Storyline)
  • Collaborating with internal teams across events, education development and delivery
  • Conducting post-course evaluations and contributing to continuous improvement
  • Assisting with maintaining and updating the CPD library to ensure content remains current

About you

You’re a confident and capable learning designer who enjoys translating complex information into clear, engaging content. You’re comfortable managing multiple projects, working with stakeholders, and taking ownership of your work from start to finish.

Skills and experience

  • Background in education, learning & development, law, or equivalent experience
  • Proven experience designing and developing professional learning content (eLearning and/or face-to-face)
  • Strong instructional design capability and understanding of adult learning principles
  • Experience working with SMEs and managing stakeholder relationships
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Experience with LMS platforms and/or instructional design tools (desirable)
  • Experience in a professional or membership-based organisation (desirable)

The team & environment

You’ll be joining a supportive and collaborative team, including another experienced Instructional Designer, with leadership from a highly approachable and well-regarded manager. The team is known for being friendly, knowledgeable and passionate about delivering high-quality education.

If you’re a strong learning designer looking for your next opportunity to create meaningful, high-impact education, we’d love to hear from you.
