The IT team delivers modern, secure, resilient and user-centred technology services that support daily operations, public-facing digital services and an ongoing program of enterprise transformation.

About the role

As IT Applications Administrator, you will be the technical custodian for the business applications at the heart of the institution’s collection, including its Collection Management System and Digital Asset Management System. Working under broad direction, you will keep these platforms secure, available and well supported, while driving continual improvement across integrations, databases and cloud services. You will work closely with business stakeholders, vendors and technical specialists, so your work directly shapes how the collection is managed and shared. This is a 12-month contract with potential to extend.

Duties

  • Administer, support and continuously improve a portfolio of business applications, including the Collection Management System, Digital Asset Management System and SaaS platforms.
  • Act as technical custodian for designated applications, covering vendor engagement, configuration, release management, lifecycle planning, monitoring and maintenance.
  • Manage integrations and data flows between business applications, databases, cloud services and enterprise platforms.
  • Coordinate application, database and supporting infrastructure upgrades in line with the Information Security Manual (ISM), the Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF) and vendor best practice.
  • Document applications and support procedures, and develop and maintain ITSM processes covering standard changes, incident management and problem management.

Requirements

  • Proven experience administering enterprise business applications, including configuration, upgrades, troubleshooting, user support, vendor management and integration with corporate systems.
  • Experience supporting application integrations using APIs, middleware, ETL processes and scripting such as PowerShell, with database platforms including Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle or PostgreSQL.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365, including Entra ID, Azure SQL Managed Instance, Azure Storage, Azure Monitor and Azure Key Vault.
  • Experience supporting business-critical production applications in Australian Government or another highly regulated environment, including incident, problem, change and release management, disaster recovery and business continuity.
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, including preparing and maintaining complex technical and non-technical documentation.
  • Experience with museum, cultural institution or archival systems, such as Piction, MuseumPlus or equivalent CMS and DAMS platforms, is highly regarded.
  • Negative Vetting 1 security clearance (Australian citizenship required).
