Are you a seasoned Data Scientist with a passion for solving real-world problems and a track record of deploying production-ready machine learning systems? We are an early-stage, super high-growth startup looking for a Senior Data Scientist to join our team in Sydney and help shape the future of our data-driven products.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to work directly with our Chief Technology Officer and wider Data Scinece Team and play a pivotal part in building new credit and behavioural models, as well as improving and extending our existing ones. You won't just be building models in a vacuum; you'll be managing loan portfolio performance and coaching and mentoring our engineering and data science teams on data management, analysis, and machine learning.
What You’ll Do:
•
Drive Innovation:
Conduct exploratory data analysis and visualisation to uncover insights and drive product development.
•
Build and Scale:
Develop and deploy new credit and behavioural models that directly impact our business growth.
•
Lead and Mentor:
Coach and mentor our growing engineering and data science teams, fostering a culture of continuous learning and excellence.
•
Manage Performance:
Take ownership of loan portfolio performance, ensuring our models are delivering real-world value.
What You’ll Bring:
•
Proven Expertise:
4+ years of experience in the practical application of data science to real-world problems.
•
Technical Depth:
A deep understanding of ML techniques such as GLM, GBM, XGBoost, and SVM for predictive modelling.
•
Coding Proficiency:
Intermediate programming skills in Python, Scala, Javascript, Typescript, or R, along with intermediate SQL knowledge.
•
Production Mindset:
Experience working with production ML systems and a clear understanding of how to monitor ongoing performance effectively.
•
Communication Skills:
Strong visualisation skills to present complex data relationships and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Bonus Points For:
•
Experience with AWS and practical use of S3, Glue, Athena, IAM, and Sagemaker.
•
Experience in data management at scale with high-dimensionality, sparse datasets.
Why Join Us?
We offer a dynamic and fast-paced work environment where you can make a real impact from day one. We value respectful and constructive communication, regular feedback, and a focus on resolving customer issues successfully. We also offer flexibility around working hours and the option to work from home, while maintaining a strong connection to our team ceremonies.
If you're ready to take the next step in your career and join a team that is passionate about using data to drive innovation, we'd love to hear from you.
