Senior Frontend Engineer, (Sydney/Hybrid)

Are you a Senior Frontend Engineer ready to drive architectural evolution and build impactful solutions across multiple products? Our client is seeking a highly experienced individual to lead their frontend platform, focusing on React/TypeScript, component library development, and technical mentorship.

About the Role

This is a pivotal, hands-on role where you will directly influence our frontend architecture and engineering standards. Reporting to the Head of Engineering, you will spearhead modernisation initiatives, including the creation of a composable component library that will be utilised across our diverse product portfolio, spanning carbon registries, renewable asset registries, and biodiversity solutions. You will operate at both strategic and implementation levels, providing technical direction and unblocking development teams.

While not a people management position, you will be a key mentor, guiding engineers in frontend best practices and ensuring a balance between delivery speed and long-term maintainability, accessibility, and performance. Collaboration with cross-functional teams (backend, QA, DevOps, product) is integral to delivering robust frontend outcomes.

What You'll Bring

• Typically 8+ years of experience in frontend engineering, with a strong track record in building and scaling modern React/TypeScript applications.

• Demonstrable impact on leading significant frontend architecture decisions.

• Proven ability to mentor and coach engineers, fostering the adoption of engineering standards and best practices.

• Extensive experience in building and evolving design systems and component libraries.

• Deep expertise in React's rendering model, modern features (Suspense, Context API, Custom Hooks), routing, and state management (e.g., Zustand/RTK).

• Strong understanding and application of frontend testing strategies (unit, integration, E2E).

• Experience with accessible web applications (WCAG compliance) and token-based authentication (OAuth2/OIDC).

Technology Stack

Our clients modern frontend stack includes React/TypeScript, Vite, Turbo, ESLint, Prettier, React Router, React Hook Form, Zod, TanStack Query, TanStack Table, Material UI, and Tailwind CSS. We utilise Vitest, React Testing Library, Storybook, and Playwright for testing. We are actively evolving our stack, with plans to migrate from MUI to Shadcn and integrate advanced state management solutions.
