Senior Full Stack Developer (NV1 Required)
Large Federal Government Organisation
Location:
Sydney (Hybrid)
Rate:$900 - $1,100 per day (contract)
A large Federal Government organisation responsible for national interest programs is seeking a Senior Full Stack Developer to extend and support an internal analytics and decision-support platform used by operational, analytical and technical teams.
The environment involves complex data pipelines, high-trust access controls, and information used to support planning and operational decision-making. The focus is on reliability, clarity of data access, and correctness, not rapid commercial feature delivery.
You will work as part of a small multidisciplinary team including data engineers, platform engineers, analysts and operational stakeholders.
Primary Focus of the Role
This role is centred on the data processing layer, the compute layer, and the mechanisms analysts use to interact with structured datasets within a controlled environment.
Responsibilities
Data Processing and Services
-
Build and maintain Python services for data retrieval, transformation and analysis.
-
Expose structured data access via FastAPI for internal systems, analytical notebooks and dashboards.
-
Optimise performance, caching and query execution for both real-time and batch workloads.
Storage and Analytical Access
-
Work with ClickHouse or similar analytical databases to support high-volume, high-selectivity querying.
-
Shape schemas and queries for fast and interpretable analytical access.
-
Support ETL workflows in Azure Synapse and maintain data lineage and integrity.
Platform Interoperability
-
Integrate compute and storage components with identity and access controls aligned to NV1 conditions.
-
Contribute to workflows where Palantir Foundry is used for collaborative modelling or cross-dataset analysis.
-
Maintain stable interfaces and clear data contracts across services and teams.
Interface and Visual Interpretation
-
When needed, implement minimal, functional UI components using TypeScript(SvelteKit/React/Vue).
-
Produce analysis-ready visualisations using D3.js, Apache ECharts or similar tools.
-
Prioritise interpretability and correctness over presentation aesthetics.
Engineering Discipline
-
Participate in peer review with an emphasis on correctness, clarity and traceability.
-
Produce documentation that supports audit, continuity and controlled handover.
-
Work directly with data scientists and operational users to validate assumptions and edge conditions.
-
Contribute to incremental improvements in deployment, testing and release practices.
Required Skills and Experience
