Software Engineer | Full Stack | Botany, Sydney | Onsite (hybrid)
Our client builds some of the most advanced software-defined satellite ground stations in the world. Customers across earth observation, commercial comms and defence-grade space domain awareness. Small senior team, properly technical.
They're hiring a polyglot software engineer to own the entire software stack – embedded firmware through to operator UIs.
The work
- Own end-to-end architecture across embedded, Linux, backend and front-end
- Architect beamformer orchestration for phased array antennas – deterministic, low-latency control
- Build defence-grade software (security, auditability, fault tolerance) alongside commercial satcom applications
- Firmware in C/C++ on RTOS and bare-metal, plus production Linux services on Azure (Pipelines, Terraform, K8s)
- Operator UIs in React, Vue or Angular meeting ground-station reliability standards
- Set engineering standards, drive code quality and review culture
You will bring
- 5+ years experience, across multiple languages
- Deep C/C++ for embedded and systems, strong Python for backend and tooling
- Solid Linux internals knowledge and software architecture chops (REST, microservices, SQL/NoSQL)
- Practical front-end experience in React, Vue or Angular
- Working knowledge of cryptography (TLS, PKI, KMS/HSM) and secure development (OWASP, CERT C/C++)
- Track record on CI/CD pipelines (Azure Pipelines preferred) and observability (OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana)
- Confident use of AI coding assistants (Copilot, Claude)
- Bonus: beamformer or phased array experience, defence/aerospace background, Azure or security certifications
Why care
- Genuinely full-stack ownership from RTOS firmware to React UIs – almost no Australian shop offers this scope
- Hardware-meets-cloud problems most engineers never get to touch
- Series A stage with ESOP participation – real equity upside, not just a salary
- World-class Australian research being commercialised at pace, with global commercial and defence customers
- Small senior team, minimal committee culture
3 stage process and it moves quickly. Onsite Botany, currently 3 days a week. Unique opportuntiy, for the right person a real career maker! Apply now!
